Color correcting is scary, to say the least. Even though I’ve always been super intrigued by the promise of bright under-eyes and a perfectly even skin tone—I have always been too intimidated to even attempt color correcting. Like contouring, color correcting seemed far too complex for my everyday routine. But, when Kosas dropped its brand new Revealer Color Corrector, a companion to the cult-favorite Revealer Concealer—I decided to finally give color correcting a shot. And to my surprise, it was actually a lot more straightforward than I thought it would be.

Kosas Revealer Color Corrector

Available in five color correcting shades to pair with your Kosas Revealer Concealer.

If you’re looking for better under-eye coverage, the Kosas Revealer Color Corrector might be your saving grace. It claims to correct discoloration with color play, rather than more product. We’ve all fallen victim to cakey concealer (me included), so it’s a relief to know there’s other options. These new color correctors are also formulated with double the caffeine, double the hyaluronic acid, and 10 times the peptides. So, if you need a serious pick me up after a rough night—the Revealer Color Corrector has got you covered in more ways than one. For me, one of the biggest selling points was how the Kosas Revealer Color Corrector was specifically made to be used with the Revealer Concealer. If you’re a concealer junkie like I am, you understand how exciting this is.

The Kosas Revealer Concealer is one of the most loved concealers on the market. (It’s used by Hailey Bieber, after all.) Although I’m constantly cycling through different concealers all the time, Kosas’ has to be one of my favorite formulas. Because of this, I already had high expectations for the new Revealer Color Corrector. I might have zero color correcting skills, but I figured if the formula is as creamy and easy to blend as the original concealer—why not give it a shot? While other color correctors boast extensive shades that promise to combat everything from acne scars to redness, Kosas’ Revealer Color Corrector made things simple.

How to Use the Kosas Revealer Color Corrector

First, I started off by picking out my shade. There are five color correcting shades—and luckily for us, Kosas does a good job at laying out which color corrector pairs with which concealer shade. Magic (a pink) is for very light to light skin tones, Illusion (a pink peach) is for light to medium skin tones, Fantasy (a peach) is for medium to medium deep skin tones, Alchemy (an orange pink) is for medium deep to deep skin tones, and Supernatural (a red peach) is for deep to rich deep skin tones. The shades are pink, orange, or red to neutralize bluish-purple tones from tired under-eyes. Typically, I’m in the medium neutral family. But since I typically go a few shades lighter to brighten, I actually settled on the Magic shade. If I was attempting to color correct blemishes or discoloration on other parts of my face, I would probably go for Illusion instead. Of course, all of the color correcting shades have different end results, so pick based on your preference.

Next, the instructions say to apply the color correcting shade first and blend it out before applying your concealer over top. Because I was a little too eager, I ended up applying way more color corrector than I actually needed. I suggest using less color corrector than actual concealer, otherwise you end up using double the amount of concealer you normally do—which defeats the whole purpose. Unsurprisingly, the color correcting shade is just as creamy and blendable as the original concealer is. Because I was heavy-handed with it, I looked a little scary once it was all blended out. But, I held on hope and applied the concealer on top as I normally would.

Our Review of the Kosas Revealer Color Corrector

In the end, I really liked the results. Normally, I rely on using a light concealer to brighten my under-eyes and I thought that worked just fine—until now. In fact, the difference is actually pretty shocking. Not only did the Revealer Color Corrector make me look awake and fresh-faced, I literally saw my face brighten up. To me, the results are comparable to how a pale pink K-beauty blush illuminates my face. Not to mention, my application was nowhere near perfect—so I can only imagine how much better it’ll look when I apply what I’ve learned. Although it seems super time consuming (and just downright confusing) to go in with different color correcting shades for different problem areas, I can definitely manage one extra step in my routine.

I can acknowledge it’s not super realistic to color correct every single day, but the Kosas Revealer Color Corrector is a straightforward way to give your skin a serious pick-me-up. Especially paired with a full face and a dramatic eye look, a little color correcting is just what you need to top it off. I’m pleasantly surprised by how easy it is to elevate my usual makeup routine, and I’m glad I finally gave color correcting a shot. If you’re also scared of color correcting but are looking to get more concealer coverage, you should seriously consider trying out the new color correctors.
