Anderson Cooper was born to Gloria Vanderbilt and Wyatt Emory Cooper in 1967. Growing up, he had a large interest in journalism and went to Yale University for a degree in political science. He started his on-air experiences as a correspondent for ABC and eventually moved to CNN. He has hosted Anderson Cooper 360° since 2003 and CNN’s New Year’s Eve special since 2002.
In recent years, Cooper and Andy Cohen have handled hosting responsibilities for the news channel’s New Year Eve special. The two have been partaking in drinking while the show airs, but it stirred headlines in 2022 when Cohen made some remarks about then-New York City mayor Bill DeBlasio.
As to whether they’ll be drinking this year, Cohen teased, “I haven’t heard anything yet, but come on, they need to let us drink. It’s New Year’s Eve,” he told the E! News hosts. “That didn’t go well last year in terms of viewer happiness about us drinking. People really cared and I hope CNN gives the people what they want.” He then joked, “Give the daddies some juice.”

Does Anderson Cooper have a boyfriend?
Anderson Cooper currently does not have a partner. The news anchor expressed that he is okay with being single in an interview with People. “I have not been dating,” he told the magazine. “I don’t know. I love spending time with the kids so much that the idea of taking any time away seems impossible to me.”
He added that “it’s really not” a priority for him in the moment but he thinks he can meet someone eventually. “Certainly, I guess, but just things are lovely as they are. Before I had kids, that was so important.” He continued talking about his schedule, “Either I’m working or I’m with the kids. and I’m exhausted by the time I get home.”
Benjamin Maisani (2014 – 2019)
Cooper has two kids with his friend and former partner Benjamin Maisani. The two dated from 2014 to 2019. “Benjamin and I separated as boyfriends some time ago. We are still family to each other, and love each other very much,” Cooper told People in a statement about their breakup, adding that “we remain the best of friends, and will continue to share much of our lives together.”
Cooper welcomed a son via surrogate in April 2020. His son is named Wyatt Morgan Cooper who was named after the anchor’s father who died when he was 10. “I hope I can be as good a dad as he was,” Cooper said on Instagram. “As a gay kid, I never thought it would be possible to have a child, and I’m grateful for all those who have paved the way.”
In February 2022, he welcomed his second son Sebastian Luke Cooper. Maisani previously announced that he would be adopting and co-parenting Wyatt and he also co-parents Sebastian. He celebrated Father’s Day in 2022 after a hard reflection on the holiday. “But today I celebrated Father’s Day, remembering my dad, Wyatt, with little Wyatt and Sebastian and their Papa, Benjamin,” he wrote. “I can’t believe how lucky I am.”
