Zendaya has not publicly commented on the engagement—only appearing excited throughout the awards ceremony showing her friend Ayo Edebiri and Spider-Man producer Amy Pascal the big ring. A Los Angeles Time “recently engaged” reporter caught Zendaya’s eye in the ballroom by holding up her left hand and the actress then pointed at her own ring. Sources confirmed to multiple news sites that Tom popped the question between Christmas and New Year’s.

TMZ was the first to report the news. A source told People that Tom had planned the engagement for months. “Everyone close to them knew an engagement was happening,” the source said, adding that he had been keen to propose to Zendaya “for a while.” “He’s always been crazy about her. He always knew she was the one. They have something very special.”

Tom Holland proposed to Zendaya at one of her homes in the United States. A source told TMZ that the proposal wasn’t extravagant but simply intimate and romantic. No one was around them when he asked the question with the source noting that it was “a sweet moment between Tom and Zendaya.”
Tom also asked for Zendaya’s parents’ blessing well in advance. Sources told the gossip site that Tom asked her father Kazembe Ajamu Coleman months ahead of the proposal and he and Zendaya’s mother happily celebrated. Sources said Tom Holland wanted to keep it pretty traditional and Zendaya’s family already loves Tom and thinks he’s “a class act.”

Tom talked about his holiday plans on the Dish podcast, and looking back, he might have hinted at the special surprise. “I’ll be with my girlfriend’s family, which will be fun. Where we’ll be is a secret,” he revealed.
“I think what we’d like to start doing is, rather than spending it with each family each year, bring the families together,” Tom said. “That’s what I think we want to do next time. This time, because we are both actors, we’re terrible at organizing things, so it hasn’t happened yet, but the thought’s there. The idea has been planted.”
