While Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds currently embroiled in legal battles with Justin Baldoni, fans are revisiting the Deadpool actor’s short-lived marriage with Scarlett Johannson. Reynolds and Johannson were briefly married for two years before he moved on to the Gossip Girl star.
The two actors met in 2007 after Reynolds called off his engagement with rock legend Alanis Morisette. They got engaged in 2008 and married the same year. In 2010, the two announced their separation in a statement to People. “After long and careful consideration on both our parts, we’ve decided to end our marriage,” they said in a joint statement. “We entered our relationship with love and it’s with love and kindness we leave it. While privacy isn’t expected, it’s certainly appreciated.”

I think I was not fully aware of the peaks and valleys. I wasn’t prepared to hunker down and do the work. Both of us were extremely busy. We spent so much time apart. It’s very difficult. It’s bad.”

A waitress told DailyMail that the co-stars were getting cozy on a date night in New York shortly after Johansson’s split. “It was just the two of the, and they were laughing and flirting,” the waitress said. “It looked like a date. If you didn’t know who they were, you would definitely assume they were a couple.”
“We were buddies for a long time, which I think is the best way to have a relationship, to start as friends,” Reynolds told Jess Cagle on SiriusXM’s Entertainment Weekly. “About a year after Green Lantern had come and gone and we were both single, we went on a double date — she was on a date with another guy, and I was on a date with another girl — and it was like the most awkward date for the respective parties because we were just like fireworks coming across,” Reynolds said.
